We fully understand our obligation to care, protect and improve our planet and are conscious of the footprint we leave behind.

We recognise the adverse environmental impacts our services can have on the environment, as well as the benefits of working to support the communities in which we operate.

Our six business units, Hewitson Limited, Hewitson Plant Hire, Hewitson Haulage, Appleton Homes, Oaktree Living and HAB Northern, have established actions to tackle some of the most pressing environmental and social concerns, from improving our positive impact in the communities we work, to reducing our carbon emissions.

Environment

By taking a holistic approach to delivering our services and sourcing materials and products, we can minimise waste and take the right steps to reducing carbon outputs. We are aware that carbon emissions are a key contributor to climate change and as such we have plans in place to offset our Carbon footprint.

8000 Trees Planted

We recently planted 8000 trees to assist with future carbon offsetting from the group. The trees have been planted within areas not being worked on our arable farm in Teesside. With the project undergoing validation by the Soil Association, it has been calculated that 2731 t/CO2 will be Offset. In addition to this, another 1,822 Trees have been planted in the March of 2024.

1540m Hedgerows

The Office at Teesside Grange is surrounded by all 390 Acres of Hewitson Farms and to accompany the newly planted woodlands; Hewitson Limited have restored a total of 1540m of Hedgerows on the Farm to form and enhance habitats for local wildlife.
